logo_dialogpr_proto_bigAt the 11th session of the Dialog PR series, organized by PRoto and the portal Gazeta.pl with the support of the Institute of Media Monitoring, journalists and PR people discussed their mutual relations.

Over 160 specialists working in the PR industry participated. The journalist panelists were Iwona Kmita from the magazine Cztery Kąty, Jakub Kurasz from Rzeczpospolita, Adam Mikołajczyk from the magazine Brief for Poland, Tomasz Michniewicz from Trójka, the Third Program of Polish Radio, and Vadim Makarenko from Gazeta Wyborcza. The discussion was moderated by Grzegorz Miecugow from TVN.

We will mention two thoughts here that were not fully conveyed in reports on the event. During the session, Grzegorz Miecugow proposed the thesis that journalists could manage without PR people. Mirosław Obarski proposed the counter-thesis that PR people, in this time of proliferating Internet tools, can create their own “media” and get along without… journalists.

Oh, and it bears mentioning that public opinion, which is served by journalists as well as PR people, also enjoys the blessings of the Internet and can create its own “media”, too – thereby making do without journalists or PR people. A factor in the movement away from traditional media is their loss of credibility during the current crisis, described in the article “The Bankruptcy of CNBC’s Credibility”. The same subject is broached in the context of Poland in the article “Spóźnione media” [Late Media].
